A Bad Hosting Experience

I recently had my hosting account terminated with www.site5.com and it was a very bad experience.  They treated me very poorly and were quite aggressive and rude.

I have had problems with them concerning downtime over the past few months but have been lazy to move to a new host. My hosting was down all day so I emailed them asking when it would be up and they sent me a nasty email saying they were terminating my account.

They are also telling me to obtain my data but I can’t access my hosting account to download any backups?!?  It took over 10 hours for them to allow me access to this data.  Now you are probably asking what I had done to deserve this type of hostile treatment, surely I must have threatened them or was running an online terrorist camp?

Here is their vague email to me that started this whole messy fiasco:

Your Site5 provisioned IP address has been firewalled from serving up further http web requests as it was found to be hosting multiple Spamdexing or SEO Farm web sites. Site5 has strict policy prohibiting these types of web sites as you would be aware of as you had agreed to these terms when you purchased your web hosting account with us.You are hereby requested to obtain any data required within your account ASAP as your account will be terminated in full within the next 24 - 48 hours or sooner. This message can be considered your first and final warning as well as notification message of this pending action, no further reminders may be issued.I have mostly blogs on that reseller account and a couple of web directories. Some of the sites are inter-linked but I had no idea that was against the hosting rules? Anyways I am quite bewildered at their aggressive attitude and I will of course be moving my sites. I should say that the sites on this host have basically been the same for about 7 months and they never said anything about this before.

Site5 made it clear that they one of the reasons they were terminating my account was because of my web directory www.wrdir.com their terms of service clearly state that directories are not allowed on their hosting.  Then a fellow poster found site5 listed in the below:

http://www.boobdoc.com/phpld/detail.php?id=1519
http://www.plentylinks.com/detail/link-371.html

Nice double standard.  Anyways if you are a directory owner or simply a webmaster be careful who you choose for hosting because there are sure some sleazy hosting companies out there.
