Microsoft treads carefully, gets JD approval

The US Justice Department confirms it is dropping the investigation into the integration of the Windows Live Search Box across the new Microsoft browser.  They state “it does not threaten Google to the point of further investigation.”

Google has been complaining that Microsoft is using it’s monopoly on operating systems to give itself an unfair market advantage again.

Google has been quoted as saying; “Changing the search engine may be simple by Microsoft’s standards,” Google said in a statement. “But if it were truly simple, users would be able to change the default with one click.”

The Justice Department has been closely monitoring Microsoft under an antitrust consent, studied the feature for the past few months and are satisfied that it does not breech anti-trust laws.
