Write for Content, Not Keywords
If there is one thing in the world of small business SEO and website creation that gets under my skin, it’s people thinking that they are going to get rich off of a Made for AdSense mesothelioma website. Look through any webmaster forum, and you’ll be sure to find plenty of naive ‘webmasters’ who think that they can millionaires by next month by copying and pasting a few articles on onto their www.mesotheliomablahblahclickme.com domain and slapping a few blended AdSense units randomly on the page. This my friends, is not the way to make money from a website. Based on behaviour it appears the term internet marketing means nothing to these short-sighted folks.
Instead of spending hours plugging keywords into Overture hoping to find the next mesothelioma, spend that time creating quality content for your website. I’m not against using Overture to find keywords (I personally do use it), but it needs to be used in the right way. When you’re considering starting a website, pick a topic that you’re interested in and that you’ll be able to create a lot of content about. After you pick the topic, then you can use Overture to find good keywords related to that topic to use in your content. Following this method will make the website you create not only more profitable in the long run, but also more fulfilling.
